Twechar Bridge
The reopening of the Forth & Clyde canal required a major replacement of the original single-leaf bascule bridge (the bridge buttresses have been retained to show the original road alignment). A completely new structure was opened in January 2001, a new control building was rebuilt and the area around the bridge site landscaped.
