Oakburn Early Years Centre under construction
The new Oakburn Early Years Centre, being built on the site of the former St Joseph’s Primary School on Craigdhu Road, Milngavie. When completed it will offer 94 places. It is one of three such centres being built in East Dunbartonshire as part of the Council's commitment to deliver on the Scottish Government's requirement for additional hours of early learning and childcare. Most construction projects in Scotland were stopped due to the Coronaviris (Covid-19) pandemic. This means this project will be delayed by several months. Photographed through the gate to the site.

Redundant gate
This pedestrian gate and gateposts originally gave access St Joseph's Primary School, which opened in 1961 (and closed in 2018). A larger, vehicular gate was just to the right. It has clearly been out of use for a long time and is pretty much blocked by the electricity substation on the other side.

Vehicle access to construction site
Most construction projects in Scotland were stopped due to the Coronaviris (Covid-19) pandemic. This is the vehicle entrance/exit to the new Oakburn Early Years Centre, being built on the site of the former St Joseph’s Primary School on Craigdhu Road, Milngavie. The signage appears to date from the start of the pandemic, while the site was still operational, and there were also clearly defined ways in and out of the site for pedestrians Image Image
