Another new carved bench
Another recent addition to the seating at Kilmardinny Loch. This one reflects local freshwater wildlife, with otters, grey heron, frog, pike, trout, dragonflies, mayfly, water lilies and with some butterflies added for good measure. The bench was created by chainsaw wood sculptor Iain Chalmers of Chainsaw Creations.
The loch and surrounding area are designated as a Local Nature Reserve by East Dunbartonshire Council.

Kilmardinny Loch outflow
Water flows into the loch from drainage channels at the northern end of the loch and excess water drains out here. Old maps show the water flowed south from here and joined the Manse Burn at Hillfoot, but there is no sign of surface water any more and it must be culverted all the way now.
