Tureen Street Public School
Tureen Street School was designed by architect John Honeyman, and built in 1875. Born in Glasgow, Honeyman set up an architectural practice in the city in 1862, one of his first works being Lansdowne United Presbyterian Church on Great Western Road.
Other prominent Glasgow buildings with which he is associated include North Park House, the Ca' D'Oro Building, Trinity Congregational Church and numerous schools such as Rockvilla and Burnbank Primaries.

Gallowgate Central railway station (site), Glasgow
Opened in 1892 by the North British Railway on the short branch line from High Street to Bridgeton Central (then called Bridgeton Cross), this station closed in 1917.
View north west towards the site of the main building, over the tunnel mouth. The platforms were still extant below when this image was taken but hidden by undergrowth. The whole area around this former station has been comprehensively redeveloped for modern housing.

Tower near Graham Square (bucranium detail)
This building stands diagonally across the road from the entrance of Graham Square. When I took this photo, the faded words "Finest Quality Butchers" could still be made out on the tower, written some way below the image of the cattle skull (a garlanded bucranium), and just out of shot in this image.
As for the skull itself, see
Image for an explanation of the symbolism in this area.
This building, built in 1936, had been the Gallowgate branch of the Commercial Bank of Scotland. For a view of the whole building, see
