Eastfield Railway Depot
A former Class 27. This loco was renumbered from 27024 into the departmental series as ADB968028, and used at Eastfield Depot for re-railing exercises. British Rail had the Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon Company (BRCW) build 69 Class 27 diesel locomotives during 1961 and 1962. They were a development of the earlier Class 26. Both were originally classified as BRCW Type 2

The fuelling shed at Eastfield depot
This view shows the old fuelling point to the left at Eastfield depot with two of the home based locomotives being serviced. 37027 and 37111. At one time this was a very busy depot servicing the locomotives for freight and passenger work that ran out of Glasgow. With the introduction of more multiple units and the freight decline less locomotives were required. You will not see a Locomotive at Glasgow Queen Street these days but when this photo was taken most services were locomotive hauled from this location. The old depot was demolished and now a more modern smaller building has replaced the original buildings. The main line out of Glasgow towards Stirling and Edinburgh can be seen behind the locomotives.
