Lytham 1st railway station (site), Lancashire
This small station was opened in 1846 by the Preston & Wyre Joint railway as the terminus of its line from Preston. Separately, the Blackpool & Lytham Railway opened its own terminus in 1863 where the current station now is. When the two companies were amalgamated, the B&L station was rebuilt in 1874 as a through passenger station and this terminus was closed to passengers. It carried on as a goods station into the 1960s. View east towards the former station frontage, where the fire station now is. The small train shed was immediately behind it. Even though there has been no passenger station here since 1874, the road is still called "Station Road".
