Solaris Centre
Viewed across the tramlines and the main road. The Solaris Centre opened in 1938 as the Harrowside Solarium. The art deco building incorporated a winter garden, sun lounge and palm court style café. It was designed by J C Robinson, chief architect to Blackpool Corporation. In 2004 it was transformed into an environmental centre. In the surrounding four acres of gardens, ten artificial wildlife habitats have been created as demonstrations for schools and community groups to study.
