Locomotives in the yard of Stirling (Shore Road, LNER) Depot
View eastwards, from a passing train on the Perth etc. - Glasgow etc. ex-Caledonian main line. The Depot served the LNER (ex-North British) lines, which came to Stirling from Dunfermline and Alloa in the east and from Balloch to the west. In 1947 it had an allocation of 22 engines (2 4-4-0, 15 0-6-0, 2 2-6-2T and 3 0-6-0T), also one steam railcar. It closed on 16/9/57. The two engines in the view were J77 0-6-0T No. 68351 and J35 0-6-0 No. 64520, both ex-NB.

Railway bridges over the River Forth
Although it appears to be a single bridge, there are in fact two railway bridges here, crossing the River Forth. The one nearest the camera carries the former North British Railway line, from Stirling to Alloa. Beyond this is the former Caledonian Railway line, running from Stirling to Perth.

An ARK
The sign reads: This is an ARK – an Act of Restorative Kindness An ARK is a haven where our native plants and wildlife can thrive. It is a place that we leave undisturbed for natural processes to happen. Space for wildlife is disappearing but, over time, this ARK will become a safe place for pollinators and other creatures to find food and shelter.

Almost at high tide. The new flats in the background are typical of a multitude of such due to this being a university town.
