Turning at Little Weir
This minor turning off Pound Lane End (the A377) is the former Umberleigh-Torrington road, and was replaced by the present Image in the early 1970s. Once the new alignment of the B3227 was built, the county council made a traffic regulation order to make the old road one way (i.e. uphill only) roughly as far as can be seen in the photograph, to prohibit right turns into it from the north, and to exclude all motor vehicles from the entire length of road except for access.

Minor road at Little Weir: descent to the A377
Minor road descends to Pound Lane End, the A377. This is the former B3227: once a new alignment was built to the north, this short section of old road was rendered one way downhill.

Gated minor road at Little Weir
This innocuous turning off the old road at Little Weir is a spur connecting the former B3227 with Pound Lane End (the A377), and was the only practicable means of turning from the A377 into the B3227 (and vice versa) from the north. The road remains public, but is subject to a traffic regulation order which prohibits motor vehicles except for access, and which prohibits all vehicular movements at the northern junction with Pound Lane End.
