Old sign post, Bude
This is a pre-Worboys sign, meaning that it dates from before the Worboys report was adopted, whereby such signs should have place-names in lower case lettering. Possibly it escaped being replaced because it was regarded as a finger post, and as such was exempt from the new regulations.

Bude Post Office
Located on Belle Vue opposite Princes Street, it's quite surprising to find that this unusual building isn't listed.

Bude Post Office
Built in 1928. Previously In 1908 plans had been drawn up for a church on this site, but this never happened.

A proper Post Office
Bude Post Office https://www.postoffice.co.uk/branch-finder/3585395/bude is of a type which could once be found in any town: a sizeable building in a prominent location. In many places of similar or greater size they have now been replaced by inconspicuous premises or even a counter tucked away in another shop. Bude's wedge-shaped PO stands proudly on its own. Just the place from which to send your seaside postcards.
In the foreground, a stencil on the pavement marks a one-way system for pedestrians: likely a necessity in the summer of 2020, but disregarded in December.
