Dense evergreens by Trinity Hill Road buffering road noise
These evergreens shield the houses on the left from the noise from the A35 at the foot of the hill ahead. They also hide part of the road sign.

Traffic queue on the A35
The view from the roadside (the stretch shown in Image) after we pulled over with smoke emerging from the bonnet, and an unpleasant smell. The clutch objected to grinding along in uphill queues much of the way from Honiton. Reassured by the man from the AA, we resumed our journey.
