Packhorse Lane
Possibly quite an ancient route from Arkley to South Mimms - To the south the Packhorse Lane name appears as a bridleway near Well End and continues as a footpath to connect with Arkley Lane. In the grey light of an overcast morning the large Oak tree in the hedgerow cast barely a shadow.

Seen here passing under the M25 motorway not far from the junction with Packhorse Lane. The B556 seems to be also known as Blackhorse Lane at this point - though that may be a mapping error.

B556 St. Albans Road
Looking northwest across the junction with Packhorse Lane. The road has a series of curves along this section. The road is popular with cyclists and is often used for time trials and races, so motorists need to be aware.
