Greenacre Close
A small housing estate on the northern edge of the London Borough of Barnet, off the A1000. I was amazed to find this Low Emission Zone sign here. I suspect that it was supposed to be placed beside the A1000 facing southbound traffic.

A1000 Barnet Road
40MPH signs mark the boundary between the London Borough of Barnet and the Hertfordshire borough of Hertsmere. The rectangular sign on the left welcomes you to Potters Bar, though that town is quite a long way down the road from here, on the opposite side of the M25 motorway.

Field beside the A1000
Looking across the valley towards Hadley Wood, the houses of which are barely visible in the haze. The line of trees probably mark the line of a boundary hedge between two fields here. A less distinct line of trees out of shot on the left may also indicate a boundary suggesting that this one large field, currently growing a potato crop, was once three smaller fields. The hedges were probably removed as a result of the mechanisation of farming after the last war.

View from Kitt's End Road
This is as you leave Monken Hadley and head out into the Green Belt. The boundary between Barnet (and Greater London) and Hertfordshire is just to the left.

Into Hertfordshire
This is as you leave Monken Hadley along Kitt's End Road and head out into the Green Belt. The boundary between Barnet (and Greater London) and Hertfordshire is just ahead.

Woodland between golf course and Kitt's End Road
The golf course is to the right of the bank on the left. There were once ponds mapped in this area, perhaps there still are in wetter times.
