These six almshouses were gifted by John Garrett, a London Merchant Taylor (spelling taken from the plaque visible on the end of the building). They were built in 1731 and subsequently renovated twice, in 1902 and again in 1982.

Derelict former hospital building
This was part of the Victoria Maternity unit of Barnet Hospital. It is next door to the Marie Foster MS unit. Despite being sited on prime development land, it has been derelict for the last 15 years and nobody seems to know what to do with it.
