Arkley: The Gate
It was nigh on impossible to get a view of the pub without any passing traffic on the A411 Barnet Road on a Saturday afternoon. There have been a few detail changes to the building since Martin took his view Image from a similar location in 2007. The signage has been refurbished and the text on the spar holding the gate has gone, leaving the building somewhat anonymous, while the gate has apparently inherited some fancy wrought ironwork. However it is good to report that the message on the gate is still there! Old Ordnance Survey maps show that this was once the Old Bell public house.
