A general view of the rear of the site. Various rooms with different exhibits have a rather attractive canopy, railway-station style, in front. The railway effect is hightened by the railway coach on the left, visible over the parked cars; this contains a sizable model railway layout.

An Anderson Air Raid Shelter at Whitewebbs Museum of Transport
This wonderful museum is partly located in a Victorian water pumping station, built in 1898, which was connected to the New River, but large parts of its extensive collection are to be found outside. It is owned and operated by the Enfield and District Veteran Vehicle Trust, who took over the site in the 1980s. The history can be seen at www.whitewebbsmuseum.co.uk/history An idea of the exhibits can be seen at www.whitewebbsmuseum.co.uk/exhibits The Anderson Air Raid Shelter was made of corrugated metal and half buried in the earth and covered with soil.

The former Whitewebbs Pumping Station
Whitewebbs Pumping Station was built in 1898. The old channel of the New River on the north side of Cuffley Brook was re-opened and used as a feeder. The water then flowed in the opposite direction to when it was part of the (original) New River. Pumping stopped in about 1950. Chris Allen has submitted a photo of the building in 1985 Image before it was transformed into Whitewebbs Museum of transport http://www.whitewebbsmuseum.co.uk/ . A rear view of the building is shown in Image (photographed by John Webb).
