Now this area has been pedestrianised the drinking fountain is more accessible. Here we are looking north west towards the market place. See the red brick building which is Barclays Bank.

Old buildings, Enfield Town
A different view of the old buildings in Enfield Town in the pedestrianised area near the public fountain. NatWest Bank is the tall building on the right, the Goose at the George (formerly The George public house) the building with the inverted v shapes, then the clapboard buildings, the Money Shop (formerly Woolwich Building Society and before that Carpet Shop), then William Hill, with Nando's Coffee shop to the left.

Wooden buildings, Enfield Town
Old wooden clapboard buildings in the centre of Enfield Town. The road used to run along here, but this area has now been pedestrianised giving a bigger walkway. The wooden building on the corner was a carpet shop for a long time, then a Woolwich Building Society. It is now a money shop. William Hill is in the smaller building next door. However, it is obvious that originally these buildings were houses. The building with the inverted v shapes is the George public houses, how called the Goose at the George. On the corner, the tall building is the NatWest Bank, originally a branch of Westminster Bank.

London Road, Enfield
This parade of shops in London Road looks as though it was formerly a departmental store, although now there are many different unrelated shops there, including a bank, employment agency, etc. At one time Pearsons had a store in this building selling beds and furniture before the main store was extended, and before that I believe it was a Co-op. If I am wrong, hopefully someone will correct the mistake.
