Extensions at High Leigh Conference Centre

High Leigh Conference Centre (2)
High Leigh was built in 1853, and in 1871, Robert Barclay, a member of the famous banking dynasty and a committed Christian, bought the property. After his death in 1921, it became a Christian conference centre. Now it is one of three run by the Christian Conference Trust, the others being The Hayes at Swanwick, SK4152 refers, and Belsey Bridge at Ditchingham, TM3392 refers.

High Leigh Conference Centre (1)
Situated off Lord Street EN11 8SG west of Hoddesdon, the main part of High Leigh was built in 1853. It was acquired in 1921 to provide affordable facilities for various missionary and other Christian societies. Now it provides residential and day conferences for up to 220 people.

The Gardens at High Leigh Conference Centre
This photo shows the gardens including the fountain, taken from the conference centre looking east towards Barclay Park. These gardens were created by the Pulham family who were landscape gardeners who owned Pulham Manufactory in nearby Broxbourne.
