After the Moonwalk
The shocking pink marquee at the start and finish of the weekend's Monnwalk charity event is slowly being dismantled. I asked the security guard if I could step a few metres to the left to get the photograph without the pile of pink crates in the foreground. He refused, on the grounds that he didn't know where the photograph would appear, and that the management wouldn't like it if they saw a photograph taken from inside the enclosure. So here is a not-quite-as-good-as-it-might-have-been image. I wonder what harm he thought an auld wifie under his surveillance could have inflicted on the site?

Shared use path, Leith Links
Matting down in recognition of the nuisance value of barriers on bike paths. In some places such barriers prevent wheelchairs, cargo bikes, trikes and hand bikes accessing paths. Here you just go around.

Leith Links
The view across Leith Links from opposite the end of Salamander Place. Arthur's seat can be seen in the distance on the left and Salisbury Crags straight ahead. The Links are famous for golf. The first mention of golf in relation to Leith dates from a reported dispute in 1552 between ‘the cordiners (cobblers) of the Cannongate and the cordiners and gouff ball makers of North Leith’. However the most famous single golf event on the Links was on 2nd April 1744; the occasion of the first golf competition anywhere in the world arranged by a group of golfers who were to become known as the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers.
