Woolmet House Gateway, Danderhall
Category A-listed. Built c1686. Woolmet House was abandoned and later demolished in 1954 due to cracks appearing as a result of underground mine workings. Beyond the gateway is now the Danderhall Miners Welfare and Social Club.

Bing, Woolmet Colliery
Woolmet was replaced by Monktonhall, a modern colliery, in the late 1960s and the bing is now an informal open space. Mining stopped below here in 1998 when the geological issues and flooding finally ended deep mining in the Lothians.

Monktonhall mining memorial
A memorial to miners killed at Monktonhall Colliery in accidents throughout the mine's lifetime.
Mention should also be made of the brave miners of Monktonhall who sank their redundancy money into keeping the colliery open after the 1980s political destruction of the industry. Sadly geology defeated them and the mine closed.
