The Buckstane
The inscription reads:
- The Buckstane -
This march stone, a relic of feudal times occupied a commanding site on the old Roman road about 250 yards north of this spot.
By tradition the name was derived from the stone having marked the place where the buckhounds were unleashed when the King of Scotland hunted in this region.

Comiston and Braid Roads
Comiston Road, to the left, is the main road. Braid Road, to the right, is the original road from Edinburgh heading south. It was apparently too steep in places for the new-fangled trams, and a more gently sloping bypass - Comiston Road - was built. This view is looking north towards Edinburgh centre.

Not sure what the pay-back time will be for these panels - facing almost due west [260 degrees] does not seem to be the optimum position for efficiency.
