Farringdon Station: southbound Thameslink platform, 2007
View NE from a northbound Thameslink train: the London Underground Metropolitan/Circle and Hammersmith & City Lines platforms are glimpsed beyond at a slightly higher level. All this is becoming totally now (2014).

Farringdon Station: junction of old and new roof
At the north end of Farringdon Station, a new roof covers the northern ends of the platforms that previously were out in the open (having been extended, some years ago, beyond the original roof). South of this, the original roof still covers the central section of the station. Here, looking south from one of the new walkways between platforms, one can see the new roof at the very top of the picture, at a slightly higher level than the old one; I assume in the fullness of time the new roof will extend south over the whole station and supersede the old one.

Farringdon Station
This shows mostly the northbound Thameslink platform, (platform 4), thronged with rush-hour commuters homeward bound, mainly for destinations in Hertfordshire.

Farringdon Station
Looking north along the Thameslink platforms - Platform 4 for northbound trains is on the left. Trains change at this station from the ex-Southern Railway 850V DC third-rail to the more modern 25kV AC overhead-wire. Through dual-voltage working here commenced in 1986 with Class 319 trains, many of which are stillin service although they are slowly being replaced by the more modern and superior Class 377. The platforms are very busy as it is afternoon rush-hour.
