Wooden carved relief of musicians, Forest Gate
One of five reliefs on the former "Eagle and Child" public house. A public house occupied this site for many years (recorded by Rocque in 1744), and was last rebuilt in 1896 or thereabouts. The public house closed a few years ago, and the ground floor is currently occupied by a pharmacist. The Buildings of England London Vol. 5: East suggests that the reliefs "must be later, perhaps of the 1920s when 'Brewer's Tudor' was in vogue."
