Chingford Mount Cemetery
Chingford Mount Cemetery was opened in May 1884 by the same company which set up Abney Park Cemetery after the latter became too congested. The first burial was on 26th May 1884. After many years of neglect it was taken over by the London Borough of Waltham Forest in 1977 just after it had survived a proposal to replace it with new housing.
There are two parts to the cemetery - the very much larger western part which is much better maintained than the small eastern part beyond the enclosed footpath between Grove Road and Heathcote Grove where many of the graves are broken. This is within the eastern part.
