A burial place since 1884, Chingford Mount Cemetery is still in use but also provides interesting walks in the woodlands.

Chingford Mount Road Chingford
Looking towards Old Church Road/New Road/Hall Lane junction. The building just right of centre is "Iceland" under which when this photo was taken was the "Prince Albert Pub". Now it houses "The Bird Cage" bar.

Chingford Mount Cemetery
Chingford Mount Cemetery was opened in May 1884 by the same company which set up Abney Park Cemetery after the latter became too congested. The first burial was on 26th May 1884. After many years of neglect it was taken over by the London Borough of Waltham Forest in 1977 just after it had survived a proposal to replace it with new housing.
