Silverthorn Telephone Exchange Chingford
Silverthorn Telephone Exchange was opened on the 1st of September 1930 and is located on The Ridgeway in Chingford. Although when it was built this section of road was still a part of Old Church Road. The original Chingford Exchange was at 32 Station Road Chingford but was too small to cope with the 800 lines needed at the time.

Flowerbed in Mansfield Park
This is next to the main entrance to Mansfield Park on Old Church Road. Old Church Road continues as The Ridgeway and this is the road ahead, beyond the railings. Not seen from the entrance though is the main attraction of Mansfield Park - the tremendous views over the huge William Girling and King George's Reservoirs - see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5339511

Miniature railways, Ridgeway Park
Built and operated by Chingford & District Model Engineering Club this works to the usual public park formula of offering rides on Sunday afternoons and bank holidays in the summer. It is not so usual in having two tracks, one the common elevated one in a simple loop with dual 3.5" and 5" gauges - a bit of this is visible between the nearer buildings. The other is not so often encountered, a ground level 5"/7.25" system. This is of some complexity, and has a large terminal station seen here, connected to a main line with two return loops and several cross connections. One loop features two level crossings across a park path.
