Bow: Minnie Lansbury memorial clock
A clock on a parade of shops/flats in Bow Road (see Image). Minnie Lansbury was a local woman who became part of the Suffragette movement, and became its General Secretary. She was made an Alderman of Poplar in 1919 and in 1920 was one of 30 imprisoned for their part in the Poplar Rates Rebellion (see Image). It is thought that imprisonment was a factor in her early death at the age of 32, on 1 January 1922. (As a matter of interest, her husband married actress Moyna MacGill after her death, and they parented Angela Lansbury.)
