Eagle Pond, Snaresbrook
The eastern end of the large pond. The wooded banks here are part of the rather extensive Snaresbrook Crown Court grounds, hence the barrier on the left, intended to ensure those going in and out use the proper gates.

Eagle Pond, North East boundary
This section of Eagle Pond, and the ground it touches, is fenced off as it is near Snaresbrook Court. I was able to get my camera through the fence to take the shot. Originally named "Snares Pond", fed from the "Snares Brook". Probably named after the old "Spread Eagle" coaching inn nearby. See also: Image] and Image]

Leyton Flats are part of Epping Forest and as such are owned and managed by the Corporation of London. Eagle Pond is at the north-eastern corner of Leyton Flats and next to Snaresbrook Road from which it is a popular pastime to feed the ducks and geese. Unlike Hollow Pond, also on Leyton Flats, there is no boating on Eagle Pond. See http://www.wansteadwildlife.org.uk/index.php/the-study-area112/leyton-flats/eagle-pond for more information.
