Originally named "Snares Pond", fed from the "Snares Brook". Probably named after the old "Spread Eagle" coaching inn nearby. At the back of the picture you can see the security fencing which cordons off the ground at the eastern end of the pond. See also Image] and Image

Eagle Pond, North East boundary
This section of Eagle Pond, and the ground it touches, is fenced off as it is near Snaresbrook Court. I was able to get my camera through the fence to take the shot. Originally named "Snares Pond", fed from the "Snares Brook". Probably named after the old "Spread Eagle" coaching inn nearby. See also: Image] and Image]

Eagle Pond, Snaresbrook
The eastern end of the large pond. The wooded banks here are part of the rather extensive Snaresbrook Crown Court grounds, hence the barrier on the left, intended to ensure those going in and out use the proper gates.
