View up the line from Wood Street station
Passenger trains were extended from Shernhall Street station in Walthamstow to serve the Chingford terminus in Bull Lane (now King's Road) over a single track which opened on 17th November 1873. With the opening of the extension the platform at Shernhall Street was closed and replaced by a permanent station at Wood Street to serve the eastern part of Walthamstow. This had substantial buildings in yellow stock brick and two platforms. The station was rebuilt in aluminium, glass and brick in 1974-1975. This view looks across the bridge over Wood Street in the direction of Walthamstow Central and Liverpool Street. The weather was cold and wet all day and was quite as miserable as it looks.

"The Plough" Wood Street (B160) Walthamstow
The Plough in Wood Street Walthasmtow has been a popular Live Music venue for a long time. Unfortunately, those days are now gone as it seems that the new owner wishes to turn this venue into ten flats. See an article in the Walthamstow Guardian. http://www.guardian-series.co.uk/news/wfnews/8744613.WALTHAMSTOW__Plough_Inn__will_be_turned_into_flats_/
