Canning Town: Pier One nightspot, former Dartmouth Arms public house
The former Dartmouth Arms, here on Bidder Street, once served a Victorian residential community, in an area bounded by Bow Creek to the west and the railway to the east. The houses have long since been demolished, to be replaced by light industry, warehouses, scrap yards and an electricity sub-station. The current building is not the Victorian original but was rebuilt in 1939. It is now the Pier One nightspot, specialising in African music. According to its website it is open from 6pm to 5am, Mondays to Saturdays.
