View across Royal Victoria Dock
This is the view that greets you as you turn into the access road to the Excel Exhibition Centre - a rather expensive-looking tower block, with excellent views of the dock. I'm not entirely sure of the location of the photo, so if anybody knows it, please let me know!

Royal Victoria Dock
The line of heavy duty cranes is a visual reminder that this was once an industrial dock where the quaysides would have bustled with dockers and goods unloaded from ships that had arrived from all over the world. Today it is a residential area, developed in the 1990s, known either by its old name, West Silvertown, or as Britannia Village. Although very much part of the docklands, it feels curiously disconnected from the rest of east London; one of the main means of access is by means of the very high footbridge from which this photograph was taken. The Emirates Air Line (cable car) can be seen in the background.
