The new tracks to the right are for the Docklands Light Railway extension to Stratford International, still under construction at the time the photo was taken. They occupy the trackbed of the former British Rail/Silverlink line from Stratford to North Woolwich which closed in 2006.

Railway near West Ham station
A suburban electric multiple unit on the railway line from Stratford to North Woolwich in 1985. This railway closed in 2006. However, London Underground's Jubilee Line had already been extended here in 1999, replacing the track to the left of the image, while the Docklands Light Railway has replaced the track on the right. New West Ham Bus Garage, London E16
Situated in Stephenson Street, Canning Town, E16 4SA, this new bus garage was opened in 2010 and replaced two garages in Waterden Road, Stratford, E15 2EE the latter site now being part of the Olympic Park which was used for the 2012 Olympic Games. It has about 250 buses based there working on routes in East London. This photo was taken at an Open Day with vehicles, including Routemasters, paraded in front of the garage buildings.

West Ham bus garage
The new West Ham bus garage, which was formally opened in 2010. The garage has been built with a number of "green" features including a wind turbine, a biomass generator and a grass roof with a rainwater harvesting system. It is one of the largest bus garages in Europe.
The site is occupied East London Bus Group, whose headquarters are also housed here.
