Robin Hood Gardens estate, Poplar
Robin Hood Gardens, a council housing development completed in 1972, is an example of "brutalist" architecture. In 2008, an attempt was made to get Listed Building status for the estate, but this was unsuccessful. This block, which is owned by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, is due to be demolished.

Entrance to the "New Blackwall Tunnel" - A102 Southbound
The new tunnel provides a two lane roadway heading south. The original Victorian tunnel runs to the west of this one.

Robin Hood Gardens comprises two blocks of council flats completed in 1972. In 2008, an attempt was made to get Listed Building status for the blocks, which are an example of "brutalist" architecture. This attempt was unsuccessful. The blocks are due to be demolished, to make way for new housing.

The New Blackwall Tunnel
Entering the "new" Blackwall Tunnel which was opened by Desmond Plummer, leader of the Greater London Council, on 2nd August, 1967. The tunnel carries southbound traffic under the River Thames.
