St Dunstan's Churchyard, Stepney
There was probably a church here in Saxon times but the present church dates mainly from the 15th century, although the chancel walls are 13th century. The very large churchyard has some exceptionally fine plane trees.

St. Dunstan's Church, Stepney, East London
This beautiful church is often spoken of as the Mother Church of the East End. It is, of course, one of the 'Oranges and Lemons' churches, ("When will that be/ Said the bells of Stepney"). By divine providence, Hitler's Luftwaffe failed to demolish it, just as it also failed to demolish the spirit of London's East End.
