The duck pond at Brooks Farm
Brooks Farm is situated at the eastern end of Skeltons Lane Park, and is a familiar sight for anyone travelling on the Barking to Gospel Oak Line between Leyton Midland Road and Walthamstow Queen's Road. The line can be seen on its brick viaduct behind the pond. The farm has been a feature of community life in Leyton since the late 1980s. Along with a range of animals, including sheep, donkeys, ponies, goats, rabbits and hens, it also offers a range of farm based learning activities for the wider community. In 2014, the management of Brooks Farm was transferred from the London Borough of Waltham Forest to youth homelessness charity Forest YMCA for a period of twenty five years. It was then transferred to Capel Manor College but at the end of 2022 it was no longer open to the public and its future was uncertain - see https://www.capel.ac.uk/news/capel-manor-colleges-statement-for-brooks-farm/
