Water feature in Heath Pool, Mary Stevens Park
It seems that sometimes this shoots up a high fountain of water above the pool, but when photographed it was very unimpressively ejecting water just an inch or two above the level of the pool.

Island in Heath Pool, Mary Stevens Park
At the back of the park, near Stanley Road, is this fairly large expanse of water known as Heath Pool. This little island seems to have been taken over by Canadian Geese. Possibly they have fled here to escape being hit by the large chunks of food being hurled at them from the footpath by the pool.

Mary Stevens Park entrance in Stanley Road
The gates and fancy ironwork at this entrance to the park are fairly recent. The main entrance gates off Worcester Street are even more impressive and much much larger. The park itself is very popular, and at weekends can get very crowded. The park was given to the town in the 1920's by Ernest Stevens, who was a wealthy manufacturer of pots and pans. It is named in memory of his wife, Mary Stevens.

Dog loo in Mary Stevens Park
Judging by the large number of dogs to be seen in the park, this facility is probably much needed.
