St Johns United Reformed Church
This church was built around 1860 to the design of George Street, mainly in red sandstone. It was originally the Anglican Church of St. John the Evangelist. It should be said that the new occupiers have chosen to spell the church name without any punctuation, so I have followed that practice in my photos of the church.

St Johns United Reformed Church
Photographed on a weekday, the church grounds were packed with cars presumably belonging to local workers. Hopefully they are contributing to the church's upkeep as this Victorian building of around 1860 must be very costly to maintain.

A contrast in building styles
The functional but drab design of the Age Concern Elton Centre on the left, contrasts with the much older church on the right.

St John the Evangelist church, Stourbridge: west end
The church of St John the Evangelist was built in 1860. Architect G E Street. St John's was a daughter church of St Mary's, Kingswinford. For a period it was a Local Ecumenical Partnership with the United Reformed Church. The partnership was ended around 2000 after the church was declared closed for worship by the Church of England, and the church is now solely a United Reformed Church. The building is listed grade 2 (list entry 1251258).
