Former Bean Offices
Built as the Head Office for Bean Cars in the mid 1920s and sold to the new Tipton Municipal Borough Council formed in 1938. The offices were used until 1967 when Tipton was largely absorbed into Oldbury with Tipton Green taken into Dudley. The Council Offices were used by Dudley College until 1993 and by various other commercial businesses. Signage on the side of the building tells a story that is typical of the demise of Black Country manufacturing. Newey Goodman were pin and hook manufacturers in Sedgley Road West with global sales. The business was bought by German firm Pryn in 1978. The workforce was decimated as the manufacturing was removed to the Czech Republic and Malaysia in 2001. Head Office functions and marketing moved to Germany.
