Kiran Patel (Inspector)

I am the Neighbourhood Inspector for the local area - I joined West Midlands Police as a Special Constable in 2008 whilst I was at University. After graduating, I worked as a Police Staff member in the 101 contact centre and later joined as a full time officer in 2014.

I have worked on response, Guardian Task Force - a proactive knife crime and robbery team, Commonwealth Games planning team and neighbourhood.

I have a passion for neighbourhood policing and long term problem solving. I wanted to ensure that I continue to rebuild public trust and confidence and will seek to listen to the view of the public to empower local people.

You may have seen me heavily involved in Operation Elevate in Alum Rock / Washwood Heath, where I was at the forefront of taking a partnership approach to tackling serious organised crime and issues that matter to the community.

I have been very fortunate to lead a team who won the WMP local policing award at the forces Excellence Awards along with a Police Now Outstanding Leadership award myself.

Priorities

1 Dec 2025

Retail Crime, continues to be a concern in Great Bridge as well as ASB including begging in general vicinity of the Great Bridge retail park.

Response (2 Dec 2025)

PC HARRIS and KITSON are continuing to target persistent shoplifters in the Great Bridge area

A number of offender have been arrested or postal charged to court for offences on the retail park and other retail premises in Great Bridge.

A number of individuals have also bee issued Community Protection warning for anti social behaviour on the retail park.

The team will be stepping up patrols of the retail park during the festive period, to help deter further offences during the later opening hours.

As always we encourage local members of our community to report any issues or concerns via 101, web chat or 999 in an emergency.

3 Oct 2025

Antisocial Behaviour.

We have received complaints of ongoing antisocial behaviour in Leasowes Road, Tipton, which has lead to a number of disturbances that have effected the quality of life for local residents

Response (2 Dec 2025)

PC Millard and Sandwell ASB officers are working with our other partner agencies regarding persistent ASB being caused to the residents of the street. We will be engaging with specific individuals in the coming weeks.

As part of our commitment to reducing ASB we deploy officers to the estate to carry out regular high visibility patrols, as well as taking appropriate action against those identified as causing the behaviour

We are working with the council and partners to target ASB, including the deployment of CCTV and high visibility patrols. Officers and the council are also taking action to target those causing harm to residents.

We would encourage residents to continue to report issues of ASB to us.

12 Oct 2025

Off Road Bikes - a continuing and known problem. Residents are suffering from ASB from the use of Off Road Bikes, particularly in the Princes End ward. Operation Momento is the local response to this issues and we continue to work with local partners to address this issue.

Response (2 Dec 2025)

Operation Momento .
The local team is continue working with partners to tackle antisocial nuisance bike behaviour across the borough through the installation of permanent deterrents. Sandwell council is also monitoring this, and with the increased use of these inhibitors, the use of these bikes is decreasing.
Please continue to contact us and the council with any reports of off-road bikes being used. Where we can identify particular hot spots, we can then target the use of our own off road bike team to patrol and apprehend offenders

A multi agency operation commenced September to target those using the bikes in an antisocial manner where both the police and partners will be using our legal powers to disrupt and enforce against those causing harm and distress to our residents.

6 Jan 2026

Great Bridge Retail Park and High Street have been repeatedly been targeted by anti-social behaviour (ASB), prolific shoplifting and begging, attracting drug use to the area.

Response (6 Jan 2026)

We have been working closely with partner agencies over the past few months, which has seen the majority of the homeless people re-housed, along with a reduction of drug use. We are making use of community protection warnings and notices, to divert aggressive beggars and ASB away from the retail park and great bridge in general, where we arrested and charged a male for breaching his notice and possessing a knife in Dec 25. We are still actively pursuing these notices and ensuring they remain enforced, as well as also investigating shop theft matters and charging a number of offenders, some of which have now been remanded.

Vehicle Crime remains an issue across the area including keyless car thefts and theft from motor vehicles overnight.

Response (6 Jan 2026)

Residents are reminded to ensure their vehicles are secure overnight. Tools and other valuables should not be stored inside unless extra security measures are fitted.
Prevention is easier that investigation, so steps such as extra locks/trackers and immobilisers should be considered for high value vehicles.
Please contact us if you have any information that may lead to arrests, or please report anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800555111
