White Elephant, No 1 High Street, Dudley
The building, currently unused, was formerly Dudley Furniture Warehouse. The exact reason for its current name is unknown, perhaps some grievance of the current owner. The term "white elephant" denotes anything that is more trouble than it is worth. A white elephant was an honourable but onerous gift from the king of Siam to a courtier he wished to ruin.
