Severn Valley Railway - Kidderminster to Bewdley shuttle
As part of the Railway's diesel bash there was a train that shuttled between Kidderminster and Bewdley with a mixture of locomotives that were always either a Class 14, a Class 17 or both together and another locomotive from a mixed collection. This particular train was being headed by Class 17 No. D8568. This is the only surviving example of the Clayton Type 1s which numbered 117 in total. The locomotive is based at the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway and is used during the running season and at special events. It is owned by the Diesel Traction Group. It was hired by the SVR from May to September 2017 and has also attended a number of Diesel galas. It is BR Class 17 and is a diesel electric of Bo-Bo configuration and weighs 69 tons. There was a Class 50 on the rear. The shuttles were only stopping briefly at Bewdley and the passengers were staying on board. They were just a way of providing more variety for the passengers and photographers.
