Nineteenth-century benchmark on chapel
This bench mark was established between 1849 and 1855 during the First primary levelling of England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 161.9540 feet [49.3636 metres] above mean sea level (Liverpool datum). It was included on the Worcester to Aberystwyth (Branch Line from Bewdley to Kidderminster) levelling line. The surveyor's description was "No. 12. Bolt in South-east corner of chapel, at Kidderminster Cemetery ; 1.05 ft. above surface" (Public Abstract p.558).

The Castle Inn, 50 Park Lane, Kidderminster
Named after the local Caldwell Castle (sometimes known as Caldwell Manor) of which not much other than a medieval octagonal tower now exists. The inn has a very different architectural style, and roof height, to the houses on both sides. However the house on the right appears to be in common ownership with the inn, or at least the ground floor, as it appears beer deliveries are taken through the doors under the arch. Maybe at one time this led to stables and/or was part of a separate pub.

The Castle Inn, 50 Park Lane, Kidderminster
Parked vehicles make this pub difficult to photograph. They also cause problems for beer deliveries, according to the notices on the door on the right.

The Castle Inn, 50 Park Lane, Kidderminster
Another of Kidderminster's fascinating back street pubs, unfortunately partially obscured by motor vehicles which seem to be parked around here much of the day. The pub is named after the local Caldwell Castle, of which a large painting appears above the main entrance. Today only the octagonal tower remains.

Round Hill Wharf, Kidderminster
Round Hill Wharf is a modern housing development built between Park Lane and the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal. The development's roads are private, but there is a public footpath across it, running between Caldwall Mill Bridge and Park Lane. This photograph was taken from that footpath,
