Village store at Wolverley
The small village of Wolverley, a few miles from Kidderminster, is fortunate to still have a village store. This is the double bay windowed building on the left of this photograph. To the right can be seen part of the Queens Head public house.

The Queens Head, Wolverley
This is a large friendly traditional village pub serving good food at excellent prices. It was at one time a coaching inn and dates from the 17th century, possibly earlier. It has its own large car park which visitors are asked to use in preference to taking up spaces in the road outside. The pub has its own website: http://www.queensheadwolverley.com

Queens Head pub sign, Wolverley
Most public houses and inns called the Queens Head are usually name after Queen Victoria. But this pub at Wolverley is believed at one time in its long history to have been named after Elizabeth I. Whether that is true or not, today it is very unusually named after Queen Caroline, the wife and Queen Consort of King George II. Originally she was Caroline of Brandenburg-Ansbach and lived from 1683 to 1737, which dates appear on the sign.
