Three Crowns and Sugar Loaf, 1 Wolverley Road
A busy family pub, which is very popular with people seeking good value food. It is in Franche, which used to be a separate village, but is now a suburb of Kidderminster. The pub opened in July 1977 and replaced one very nearby, which was demolished for road improvements. That too was called by the same unusual name as the present one. The Kidderminster Civic Society have published an interesting report about the old pub, and it includes some thoughts about what the name was derived from. It can be read here:
