Telephone box, Milborne Port
A K6 type telephone box near the Gainsborough Arms. In 1935, the Post Office commissioned a new kiosk from Sir Giles Gilbert Scott to celebrate the Jubilee of King George V. The K6 Jubilee Kiosk, as it is known, was similar to the K2 box, being made of cast iron and painted red but was 25% lighter in weight. By the end of the 1930s there were 20,000 K6 telephone boxes in use all over the UK.

Sign for the Gainsborough Arms
Instead of a coat-of-arms the sign shows a portrait of Thomas Gainsborough. Thomas Gainsborough (1727-88) was an English landscape and portrait painter, almost as popular at the peak of his career as Reynolds. He is known for his many elegant portraits of women, and above all for his Blue Boy. Greens and blues predominate in his work.

Mock Half-Timbered Building
This building is the most north easterly in the grid square, in the New Town Area of Milborne Port. It appears that there was once a large window in this wall that has been bricked up, rendered and had thin pieces of wood placed on it to look like it has a half-timbered structure. One of the thin pieces of wood has fallen off revealing the brickwork half an inch underneath.
