Level Crossing Gates
These gates are new ones made by local carpenters John Gale and Bernie Joy as a memorial to the old railway level crossing on the former line that ran from Maiden Newton to Bridport and West Bay. This section of line closed in 1975. The old lines are still in the road, and can be seen through the gates in the photo. This part of the old track has been grassed for local residents to enjoy.
