Near the statue of King George III, Weymouth
The statue seen in this image Image is immediately behind the viewpoint. The white transportation device at the left is a replica of the type of bathing machine that would have been used by King George III to take to the sea. George was a regular summer visitor to the town between 1789 and 1805 having been advised to take to the waters to provide relief from his misunderstood 'madness', actually porphyria, a chemical imbalance damaging to the nervous system. In the distance is the Esplanade. At the right can be seen the town's Information Centre.
