Welcome to the Weymouth Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) page which covers the following ward areas: Chickerell Town, Littlemoor, Melcombe Regis (Town Centre), Nothe & Chapelhay, Radipole, Preston & Sutton Poyntz, Westham, and Wyke Regis.

Weymouth is a picturesque seaside town situated on the south coast of Dorset and has a population of around 60,000 which increases considerably during the summer months.

The NPT work alongside partner agencies and the local community to ensure Weymouth remains a safe place to live, work and visit. Working in partnership means we can tackle the issues that most affect local people.

Please see the Local Priorities section below for more specific and localised issues in your area that we are currently working on.

The NPT believe it’s vitally important that we are accessible to the communities we police. As such, we attend many local events and meetings where you can speak with us face-to-face, as well as regularly updating our social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter & Instagram) and arranging individual contact when required.

To come and speak with us at a local event or meeting, please see the Get Involved section below for further details. You can follow us on our local social media accounts by using the relevant links on the right hand side of this page.

If you need to report something or wish to speak to a local officer directly, you can visit the "Contact Us / Do It Online" section of the main Dorset website. For those who are unable to use the internet, you can still call 101 for non-emergencies and 999 should always be called for an emergency where a crime is in progress or life is in danger.

Priorities

1 Oct 2023

Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) and crime.

We are currently concentrating on several local priorities including: -

  • Operation Halt – This operation is tackling violent crime, drug dealing and ASB committed by young people in and around the Rodwell Trail, The Marsh and surrounding areas. We will be using various tactics including high visibility patrols to deter those wishing to cause issues. We will work with our partners to maximise our impact in this area.

  • Operation Turnout – We will identify the areas of highest recorded crime and/or ASB and target these areas as a team to reduce criminal activity and ASB. We will encourage our communities to report anti-social behaviour and crime so we can tackle it effectively.

Response (1 Oct 2023)

Each NPT beat manager will drive local policing activity in their area and promote the benefits of working in partnership with other community safety groups to deliver cohesive and sustainable plans on tackling and reducing anti-social behaviour (ASB) and crime.
Please follow us on our local social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram & Twitter) to see regular updates of policing activity involving the team
