Russell family monument - West Stafford parish church
The memorial inscription records the names of no less than four successive members of the Russell family all called Richard. They were: great-grandfather Richard Russell who died in 1638 aged 75, grandfather Richard Russell who was buried in 1660 aged 63, and a father, Richard Russell who was buried in 1667 aged 39. All were former rectors and patrons of the church and owners of neighbouring farms. The fourth family member called Richard Russell, a grandson, was buried aged 4 years 1 month in 1671.
